Boards that have a more pronounced v are called bevelled boards and boards where the v is less obvious are called micro bevelled boards. Beveled edges are a win win for the consumer as the laminate flooring looks real yet offers resistance to scratches sunlight and almost anything you can toss its way. In older homes micro beveled edges allow floor installers to quickly install planks without releveling the base floor first. Edge type can be defined as the finished sides and end joints of each plank. A full bevel edge is often combined with a sculpted or hand scraped effect. One of the benefits of micro beveled hardwood floors is that the grooves in the edges of the board allow for more forgiveness if your existing floor is not perfectly level.

Beveled edges are often referred to as v grooves as each plank is milled to give the plank its own distinct look. This edge style typically lends itself to a more traditional or rustic type of décor although it also works in a modern setting.
